Super Mario World Yoshi Island (SNES) Cheats

Play Mini-Games – While at the level select screen, hold down SELECT and type: X X Y B A

Play Bonus Game At Any Time – To play the bonus games at any time, hold Select and press X, X, Y, B, A on the map screen. A menu will appear with all of the mini-battles, two of which can be played against another person.

Find Bonus Levels – At the end of every world there are two question mark boxes. When you get a 100 on every level on that world those two levels will appear.

95 Hidden Coins Level 1-3 – On level 1-3, If you go to the second advice box jump high to the left. If done right you will come upon a ledge. Run to the left and recieve 95+ coins.

Unlock secret levels and bonus games in each world – To unlock a bonus level and one of the 6 bonus games (when you get a flower on a roullete on the end of the level), finish a world with a 100 on each level to unlock the level and bonus game. These levels are tough for beginners. Here are the bonus games unlocked in each world:

World 1: Flip Cards
World 2: Scratch ‘n’ Match
World 3: Drawing Lots
World 4: Match Cards
World 5: Roulette
World 6: Slot Machine

Make Eggs yellow and red – It’s best to have a full supply of green eggs for this trick. Find a place in a level where you can aim straight up without hitting anything else (ie: level 6-8 would be a good one, after you hit a door, but don’t go in yet). Stock up on eggs if you don’t have any, then aim straight up. Throw an egg and after it hits the celeing once, have Yoshi catch it with his tongue. It should stop bouncing and be a yellow egg (if it was green to begin with). Throw another egg, this time letting it hit the celeing twice, then catch it. It should have turned red. Doing this trick right will help you make your score better, as red eggs give 2 stars that can be used on the Baby Timer that appears when Mario falls off Yoshi’s back.

Instantly Kill Naval Piranha – When you are in the hallway right before you reach the room of World 3’s boss Naval Piranha, start to swim slowly into the room, until you are right in front of the column of falling water. You can just see the untransformed Naval Piranha, but you haven’t gone far enough to trigger Kamek’s appearance. There, jump straight up, and, before you fall, aim and shoot an egg at the Piranha. When the egg hits the Naval Piranha, Kamek will appear, scream “OH MY!!!” and then flee, and the Piranha will be destroyed, without you having to battle it.

Easy Lives Level 1-7 – For nearly unlimited lives in world 1, try this:

Grab one of those baddies that roll up in a ball.
When you get to a point where you see the middle ring, don’t go to it. Instead, go to the other side of the pipe that you just went pass.
When shyguys start coming out the pipe, spit the ball out.
Grab the ball before it stops rolling. Repeat the same process over and over until you gain some men.
If you wait until the ball stops you’ll have to do the process again. The same thing goes if you destroy the ball and you’ll have to grab another one.
Another problem is if you’re not standing on the right spot. If you’re not, the ball will go over the pipe instead of bouncing back and forth between the pipe and the stuff you can destroy with your eggs or by ground pound.

Easy Lives Level 4-1 – To gain all the lives you want, try this:

On Stage 4-1 (with at least 3 eggs [maximum 5 eggs]), grab a shell. But do not make a egg out of it.
When you get to a point where there’s two tunnels with piranha plants, kill the plants with the eggs.
Stand on the tunnel facing the pipe with the shyguys jumping out.
Make sure that the shyguys are jumping out the tunnel. Then spit the shell out.
The shell should go back and fourth between the shyguy pipe and the pipe that you’re standing on killing the shyguys coming out the pipe.
Be careful, because if a shyguy is standing too close to a pipe and the shell hits it, the shell and the shyguy will be destroyed.

Super Mario World Yoshi Island Level Warps

World 1-1 Warping: Skip World 2-1 – In World 2-1, partway through the level you need to go down a pipe with a red down-pointing arrow on it (you will see another similar pipe to the right of there, with an up arrow). Whilst standing on it, press Down and the Jump Button together. You will glitch the game and warp to the top-left bit of World 1-1. Flutter Jump to the right as much as possible whilst falling (you’ll die if you don’t) and you’ll fall on part of World 1-1. You can finish the level from there as you would 1-1, with the benefits of being able to gain extra Red Coins, Stars, and Flowers from the level; further, the score earned will be counted towards 2-1 and it will also count as you finishing 2-1!

World 1-1 Warping: Skip World 1-4 – In World 1-4, partway through there is a locked door next to a pipe. Enter the pipe. When you land, begin holding the button to aim an Egg, then walk backwards and hit the Hothead so that you’re hurt. Go on the platform to the right without grabbing Baby Mario, then Flutter upwards towards the exit. Yuo should end up grabbing Mario while above the screen. You will glitch the game and warp to the top-left bit of World 1-1. Flutter Jump to the right as much as possible whilst falling (you’ll die if you don’t) and you’ll fall on part of World 1-1. You can finish the level from there as you would 1-1, with the benefits of being able to gain extra Red Coins, Stars, and Flowers from the level; further, the score earned will be counted towards 1-4 and it will also count as you finishing 1-4!

World 1-1 Warping: Skip World 3-1 – In World 3-1, partway through, you’ll reach a Middle-Ring. Nearby, you’ll find a watermelon-seed-spitting monkey. Jump from his head to up and above the Middle-Ring; you’ll get an extended jump boost. While doing floating above and to the right of the ring, you’ll want to try to enter the hidden bonus area. You will glitch the game and warp to the top-left bit of World 1-1. Flutter Jump to the right as much as possible whilst falling (you’ll die if you don’t) and you’ll fall on part of World 1-1. You can finish the level from there as you would 1-1, with the benefits of being able to gain extra Red Coins, Stars, and Flowers from the level; further, the score earned will be counted towards 3-1 and it will also count as you finishing 3-1!

World 1-1 Warping: Skip World 4-7 – Partway through 4-7, you will be able to shoot down a springball that’s hidden above the screen. (It is where the fish enemies fly leftward at you and there’s an impassable wall to the left.) Shoot down the springball and use it to reach another. As you use this one and go to the next screen from the jump, hold Left. You will glitch the game and warp to the top-left bit of World 1-1. Flutter Jump to the right as much as possible whilst falling (you’ll die if you don’t) and you’ll fall on part of World 1-1. You can finish the level from there as you would 1-1, with the benefits of being able to gain extra Red Coins, Stars, and Flowers from the level; further, the score earned will be counted towards 4-7 and it will also count as you finishing 4-7!

Carry Big Eggs to Other Levels – When getting a Big Egg (as in World 2-7), you can carry it to another level. Go to the Goal Ring and past it to the right side of the screen. Aim the Big Egg straight up, launch it, then lick it with your tongue; repeat as necessary until the Big Egg is launched to to the right and about half off-screen. Then enter the Goal Ring. The next Yoshi to come will pick up the Egg, carrying it with the others and Mario to the next level. Note that the Big Egg’s graphics will glitch up, but it’ll retain its normal functions.

Coin-Based Level Warping – Note that this glitch requires a controller that allows pressing both Left and Right on the D-Pad simultaneously.

Begin by collecting a certain number of coins and returning to the level selection screen. The amount varies upon the level you wish to warp to. 68 for example will bring you to the final level, but depending on the amount you can go to any level, including glitch levels. With this achieved, use Start and then Select to leave the level and return to the map. There, press Left and Right together, then an less than half a second after begin holding the A Button. The cursor will glitch up a little, but you will soon transition to the named destination level.

Note that this glitch can affect level progression significantly and make it so certain levels are only accessible with further use of the glitch. Results can be variable and may require several tries for the desired result.

Tips

if you needed a certain enemy to jump on but you killed it, go backwards and swallow an enemy but dont turn it into an egg. if you push b+ up you can spit it out without killing it.

As a precaution, I find it very useful to try to get the timer of how long little Mario can remain in the air. Sometimes you have to jump or cross something that takes a bit. With a high clock timer, you'll have time to get to baby Mario.

Go in a place that there is a roof on top of Yoshi and shoot an egg at it. The egg will ricochet and bounce back to Yoshi very fast. Too fast! So as soon as you fire the egg sick with your mouth and you will have a colored egg!

When you come to one of those red tulip-things that gives out stars, before you get your stars, try this: Aim an egg at the ground at an angle so that it will bouce off and hit the bottom of the flower. It will turn orange when it hits the ground and when it hits the flower it will fall to the ground. Now you have an orange egg. If you do it twice you get a red egg which gives you stars when you hit something.

If you get 1000 points in 5 worlds you can play hard mode.

if you play melee you'll notice yoshi's second jump is extremely high
to do that in the game jump on an enemy , and if you dont hit the ground you're jump will be much higher. I used this to beat a few levels easier.

How to make it easier to play those End-Of-Level games!

Every see that when you reach the end of the level, the game is always reached at the flower space? Well, those flower spaces don't appear in random numbers. You have to get them.
Now, you may be thinking, how do I get this space? Simple! During one of my playings of this game, I saw that when I got a certain number of flowers in the game, those flowers turned into the flower spaces, which made it easier to get the game.
So if you want to get the game without hoping it will land on that ONE flower space, hope no longer! All you have to do is try to get all the five flowers and you will have a better chance at those games!

you can ride lakitu's cloud for a short while, then it will disappear
there are two ways to get his cloud
1. eat lakitu, DONT eat the cloud it will go away if you do
2. * preferred way * jump on lakitu, the cloud will stay there and you can fly around on it.
use the control pad to control it, it will disappear after about 10- 15 seconds, or if it hits an object or enemy

in level 1-7 it is very hard to get all 20 red coins. when you get to the red/yellow bridges get all the coins but don't finish go to the raised log and jump as high as you can, a jump shere will appear, jump on it and you'll go through a pipe. move the chomp rock and a winged cloud will appear, it has a beanstalk in it. climb it to get the final 4 red coins.

on the level selection screen hold select and press l,l,b,a,r and you'll unlock the mini battles with the bandit. you can get free items buy doing this

if you do a ground pound when a egg-shooting plant is on the screen, eggs will shoot out, so that if you get them all you will have six eggs.

Get up to the part when you are in world 4, level one. Get up to the part when Shy guys are jumping out of a pipe. Get a Koopa shell, then stand on the hill, in front of the 2 red things that open a nd close their mouths. Make sure you have no eggs, then throw the koopa shell down. If you are standing right, the koopa sheel will come back, and go under a bit of yoshi's feet, making it jump a little. Don't worry. After a while, Shy Guys will jump out and will be killed by the shell. Now, listen to the sound, and it will get higher and higher (don't move). Just wait for about 2 mins, and 1 ups will appear. The most number of lives you can get is 999. We tried to get 1000, but failed. We know.

Glitches

On Yoshi's island level 1-8 (the castle),get to the end and start to defeat Salvo. Stay off to the right near the lava.When you hit him the last time, he'll freeze. Very quickly jump into the lava. You won't die but Yoshi will be gone and you won't get to see the key.

Cheats

If you manage to total your world points to 777 exactly, you are rewarded with a 7UP.

When you are on the level select screen hold Select and press L,L,B,A,R and you should unlock a new screen full of bouns games.

If you attain more than 700 points in a world, the Extra Challenge stage will be unlocked. This is essentially one of the challenges you can find at the end of levels.

Get 800 points in each world to unlock the Extra level in that world.

In World 1-7 take a rolly polly and hold it in youre mouth until you get to a green pipe that spits out shy guys. Spit out the rolly polly and jump out of the way and as the shy guys spit out of the pipe it will give you points and eventually 1up after 1up.(It can be time consuming have some fresh batteries.)

To access the mini-games without entering stages, hold SELECT and press L, L, B, A and then R, at the level select screen.
You should be presented with the mini-games menu, which allows you to play all of the mini-games available in the game and earn the prizes from them.

Complete the game once through to open up six 'Secret' levels, one for each world.

Go to 1-7, now when you are nearing the end, at the red and yellow bridges, ground pound one. Now pause it and watch Yoshi go through the ground. Yoshi will die.
